Whether you're renting a ready-to-fish setup, booking a lesson or joining us for a guided trip, we've put together answers to the most common questions so you know what to expect before hitting the beach.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy provides flexibility while protecting the equipment and time reserved specifically for your booking.

MORE THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE YOUR RESERVATION
Cancellations receive a full refund.

24–48 HOURS BEFORE YOUR RESERVATION
Cancellations receive a 50% refund, or 100% of the amount paid may be applied toward one rescheduled reservation.

LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR RESERVATION
Payments are non-refundable. We’ll do our best to accommodate a reschedule when availability allows, but rescheduling is not guaranteed.

NO-SHOWS
No-shows are non-refundable.

WEATHER
Rain, wind, clouds or a less-than-perfect forecast do not automatically cancel a reservation. For one-day rentals, private lessons and guided trips, if Coquina Coast Surf Fishing Co. determines that conditions are unsafe due to lightning, severe weather, dangerous surf or other hazardous conditions, we will first offer to reschedule. If we cancel for unsafe conditions and a reasonable alternative cannot be scheduled during your stay, you will receive a full refund.

MULTI-DAY RENTALS
Once equipment has been delivered and the rental period has begun, 3- and 5-day rentals are non-refundable, including unused days or early returns. Weather conditions during a multi-day rental do not qualify for refunds, partial refunds or credits.

REFUND PROCESSING
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing times may vary by payment provider, card issuer or financial institution.

RESCHEDULING CREDITS
Rescheduling credits must be used within 12 months of the original reservation date, are subject to availability, may be applied to one future reservation and have no cash value.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG IS A RENTAL DAY?

Rental periods are based on reserved fishing days rather than 24-hour periods. One-day rentals provide use for one fishing day within a sunrise-to-sunset window and do not include overnight possession. Multi-day rentals include overnight use, with pickup scheduled on the final rental day. Delivery and pickup times are confirmed when you book.

WHAT COMES WITH A READY-TO-FISH RENTAL?

Two 10-foot surf rods with PENN reels, two aluminum sand spikes, hand-tied rigs and terminal tackle, artificial bait, pliers, a bucket and weights selected for the day’s conditions — all packed into a four-wheel aluminum beach cart and delivered ready to fish.

DO YOU DELIVER AND PICK UP?

Yes. We provide delivery and pickup throughout our St. Augustine-area service area and coordinate the location and timing when you book.

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SURF FISH?

Not at all. We’ll provide a basic equipment overview at delivery. For more hands-on instruction, add a private surf fishing lesson to your rental.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO RENT EQUIPMENT?

The primary renter must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for the rental equipment throughout the rental period. Anglers ages 16–17 may use the rental equipment with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Younger anglers may use the equipment when directly supervised by a responsible adult.

DO I NEED A FLORIDA FISHING LICENSE?

Requirements vary by age, residency and where you’re fishing. Anglers are responsible for any required license. We recommend checking current Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission requirements before fishing.

IS BAIT INCLUDED?

Artificial bait is included with rentals. Fresh or frozen bait may be recommended depending on the season, conditions and target species, and we’ll let you know where it can be purchased locally.

DO YOU PROVIDE BAIT RECOMMENDATIONS?

Yes. We’ll provide complimentary recommendations for fresh or frozen bait based on the season, current conditions and target species, and let you know where it can be purchased locally.

CAN I KEEP THE EQUIPMENT OVERNIGHT?

Yes. Multi-day rentals include overnight possession. Secure overnight storage is recommended. If your accommodations have limited storage, let us know when booking.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR THE EQUIPMENT DURING A MULTI-DAY RENTAL?

Routine rinsing is not required. If equipment is submerged in saltwater or placed directly in sand, rinse it with fresh water as soon as reasonably possible. Do not use high-pressure water, chemicals, lubricants or perform maintenance or repairs without Coquina Coast approval.

WHAT HAPPENS IF EQUIPMENT IS LOST OR DAMAGED?

Normal fishing wear is expected. Customers are responsible for equipment that is lost, stolen or damaged through misuse, negligence, submersion or improper handling while in their possession.

IS THERE A SECURITY DEPOSIT?

A $250 temporary security authorization is required for rentals. This is a temporary authorization hold, not an additional rental charge. The authorization is released after the equipment is returned and inspected, provided no amounts are due. Processing time may vary by card issuer or financial institution.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

Rain or a less-than-perfect forecast does not automatically cancel a reservation. For one-day rentals, private lessons and guided trips, we’ll reschedule or refund if Coquina Coast Surf Fishing Co. determines conditions are unsafe. Weather does not qualify for refunds or credits on multi-day rentals once the rental has begun.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LESSON AND A GUIDED TRIP?

Lessons focus on teaching you how to surf fish. Guided trips are about fishing together, with locations, techniques and target species selected around the season and conditions.

ARE CATCHES GUARANTEED?

No — that’s fishing! We’ll use proven techniques and choose our approach around the tides, season and conditions, but the fish ultimately make that decision.

CAN WE REQUEST A SPECIFIC SPECIES?

Absolutely. Tell us what you’re hoping to target. We’ll build the plan around your goals when conditions and seasonal availability allow.

DO YOU CLEAN OUR CATCH?

Fish cleaning is available for legal keeper fish on guided trips. Fish cleaning is not included with equipment rentals or private lessons.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN JOIN A GUIDED TRIP?

St. Augustine-area surf and inlet trips include up to two anglers with a four-angler maximum. The Space Coast Snook Experience includes up to two anglers with a three-angler maximum. Additional-angler pricing is listed on our Guided Trips page.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Comfortable beach clothing, sun protection, polarized sunglasses and water are recommended. We’ll provide any trip-specific recommendations when your reservation is confirmed.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Our full Cancellation & Refund Policy is listed above. Cancellations made more than 48 hours before a reservation receive a full refund. Different refund and rescheduling terms apply to cancellations made within 48 hours of the reservation
